China’s bioenergy industry is growing. At the end of 2020, the total installed capacity of bioenergy was 29.52 gigawatts (GW). Power generation using agricultural and forestry residues and municipal waste is the main commercial use of bioenergy at present. Municipal waste-to-energy power generation is growing the fastest, with a total installed capacity of 15.22 GW, compared with 12.98 GW for power generated from agricultural and forestry residues.
