P&ID is used as base document for any engineering activity related to process ongoing in plant. Particularly, mentioned document is used to build HMI displays for plant operators/engineers to use. HMI development has its own rules and best practices but one HMI page can be created based on one P&ID page if it meets requirements. In the current paper one sample P&ID page is used to detect equipment on it and create corresponding HMI page. For P&ID pages recognition OpenCV library of Python was used and Unisim HMIWeb Display Builder software was used to create HMI displays. In this work Neural Networks or AI technics are not used but it can be done in future works taking current work as base for them.
