Robotic simple prostatectomy (RSP) is a safe and effective treatment option for patients requiring surgical treatment for large gland benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The robotic surgery platform provides magnified 3-D vision, tremor filtration, wristed instruments, and enhanced ergonomics. Compared to open simple prostatectomy, RSP is associated with reduced blood loss, blood transfusions, reoperation rates, and length of hospitalizations. In this chapter, we describe the technique for transperitoneal RSP.

摘要

Robotic simple prostatectomy (RSP) is a safe and effective treatment option for patients requiring surgical treatment for large gland benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The robotic surgery platform provides magnified 3-D vision, tremor filtration, wristed instruments, and enhanced ergonomics. Compared to open simple prostatectomy, RSP is associated with reduced blood loss, blood transfusions, reoperation rates, and length of hospitalizations. In this chapter, we describe the technique for transperitoneal RSP.
