Mohamed, the patriarch of the family, initiated his career as a remarkable actor, first gaining recognition in The Wind of the Aurès (1967) and Elise or the Real Life (1970). His early films were produced by Algerian national TV. He achieved widespread fame with The Citadel and Douar Ensa (The Women's Village). Mohamed Chouikh's films consistently find their roots in Algerian society, reflecting the environment in which he resides. Throughout his journey, he received unwavering support from his wife, Yamina, who skillfully edited all his movies. She later directed one of the most powerful condemnations of violent fundamentalism, Rachida. Their daughter, Yasmine, is also a talented filmmaker who showcased her skills with Until the End of Time (2017). Not to be overlooked, their second daughter, Karima, has made her mark as a successful producer, playing a crucial role behind the scenes in the family's numerous accomplishments.
