Trans-synaptic Retrograde Degeneration in the Visual Pathway in Central Nervous System Diseases
摘要
Retrograde trans-synaptic retinal degeneration may occur in patients with post-geniculate optic radiations lesions and can be showed in congenital/long standing homonymous hemianopia, acquired homonymous hemianopia and neurodegenerative diseases like multiple sclerosis or Alzheimer’s disease. This trans-synaptic retinal degeneration has been reported using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) of the macula, ganglion cell complex (GCC) and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL). OCT-angiography can also show decrease of vascular density in macular and peripapillary area.
