Fostering Social Relationships in Higher Education Institutions Through AI-Powered Solutions for Sustainable Development
摘要
With a 24/7 presence and helpful student service, chatbots are quickly becoming a breakthrough and innovation in learning media and technology, meeting the unique demands of today’s young generation. It becomes increasingly important to study how students perceive chatbots and what makes them desirable as this technology develops. In this case, this research utilizes a social relations perspective to modify chatbot development for the benefit of users during the learning process. To test how different visual cues (avatar presence vs. avatar absence) and interaction styles (social-oriented vs. task-oriented) influence perceptions of social presence, this study used an experimental design with pre-service teachers. This research uses a survey experiment to collect information from 21 pre-service teachers for the 2023 academic year in Indonesia. The results highlight that users’ impression of social presence is improved by adopting an interaction style that focuses on social interactions, while Chatbots as a learning resource also have a statistically significant influence. This research adds to our knowledge of how new digital technologies, such as AI-Chatbots, can revolutionize education and social sciences.
