Unitary Metric Colligations and Their Model Representations

The study of linear bounded operators that are “close to unitary” is significantly richer than the “non-self-adjoint” case (Chap. 1 ) and has several fundamental differences, which lead to a few new meaningful problems. The solution of the latter formed not only the basis of the theory of model representations in the “non-unitary case”, but also served as a starting point for the creation of new areas in the field of spectral and harmonic analysis of linear operators. In this regard, it suffices to mention the theory of dilatations of B. S.-Nagy and C. Foyas [N11, N12], the problem of completeness and expansion by eigenfunctions, the problem of separating spectral components, etc.
