The Role of Foreign Companies Operating in Omani Freezone in Revitalizing Small and Middle Enterprises

The paper seeks to delve into a pivotal inquiry: How do companies within the Al Mazyouna Free Zone contribute to the empowerment of enterprises in the region? This central question delves into the profound impact that the symbiotic relationship between free zone entities and the growth trajectory of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the area. The study meticulously examines the pivotal role played by foreign enterprises domiciled in the Al Mazyouna Free Zone in invigorating the landscape for SMEs in Oman. Employing a descriptive-analytical framework, the research primarily employs quantitative methodologies, leveraging a comprehensive questionnaire distributed across the target population. The research cohort, comprising 276 participants drawn from a total pool of 640 administrative managers and officers, underwent rigorous scrutiny. The survey scrutinizes the dual roles of foreign corporations and indigenous entities within the Omani context. Analytical tools such as Cronbach's alpha and the t-test, facilitated by SPSS analysis, were instrumental in dissecting the collected data. The findings unequivocally illustrate a symbiotic nexus between the requisites of foreign enterprises within the free zone and the aspirations of Omani indigenous companies to fortify their market presence. Indigenous enterprises, propelled by a quest for innovation and a keen understanding of customer exigencies, are poised to forestall customer attrition to rival entities while simultaneously amplifying production endeavors. Consequently, the study proffers strategic imperatives such as the activation of service-oriented initiatives, the orchestration of business frameworks, and the optimization of inter-company synergies, all aimed at fostering the growth trajectory of SMEs in Oman.
