The market dynamics of the late 2020s posed significant challenges for the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, fundamentally transforming consumption habits and preferences. These changes, although not yet fully understood, have led to notable shifts in market share. This transformation was primarily triggered by a series of crises, from the COVID-19 pandemic to accidents, ambush and blockades in the Red Sea and Panama Canal, which disrupted global supply chains and caused widespread shortages in manufacturing and transportation. Consequently, the cost of goods sold, including categories like coffee, confectionery, and breakfast cereals, increased. Add to this backdrop, a growing focus on health, nutrition, and diet which further altered household consumption behaviors. These shifts prompt three critical questions: (1) How have household consumption patterns changed? (2) What do households now prioritize when shopping for groceries? (3) How can FMCG companies adapt their strategies to align with these new consumer preferences and maximize commercial gains? This study investigated and sought to answer these questions through in-home interviews with diverse households. By engaging primary grocery shoppers and cooks across various demographics, we employed thematic and content analysis to generate actionable commercial insights guiding FMCG companies in adapting their strategies to align with the shifting priorities for maximization of market impact and consumers’ evolving trend in the kingdom of Bahrain.
