Electrolyte-gated carbon-nanotube field-effect transistor-based biosensors often face stability and functionalization challenges. This paper addresses stability by introducing a lipophilic membrane on the channel: this leads to reduced stabilization times, down to 34 min, and to enhance the sensor performance and functionality up to 12 h and 5 repeated uses. In addition, the gate is separated from source and drain, to enable cleaning and gate functionalization with aptamers and polyethylene glycol. This approach allows to replace the gate, while still maintaining the same source and drain electrodes; this ultimately reduces cost and environmental impact.

摘要
