Talk to Hands: A Sign Language Solution for Speech-Impaired People
摘要
Humans are social animals and communication plays a vital role in human interaction and thus their societal development. It is the sole way for humans not only to interact but also to foster relationships. But, among us many who live have their world limited as they speak a language very few understand. That is sign language which only the deaf and mute grasp. So, to aid inclusivity and to make sure language never poses a hindrance, Talk-2-Hands was introduced as an innovative solution to solve the problem of the communication gap. Talk 2 Hands comes with the functionality of translating Indian sign language to text. The system makes use of the convolutional neural network (CNN), a deep learning algorithm commonly used in image processing and recognition tasks. The CNN model was trained on a large dataset of sign language gestures captured through videos or images, which includes a variety of gestures, variations, and lighting conditions. The data was preprocessed and the CNN model was trained to accurately recognize sign language gestures in real-time and convert them into text. The system was designed to be integrated into a user-friendly interface that enables speech-impaired individuals to communicate effectively with the general public.
