Since the COVID-19 epidemic in Wuhan, China, the SARS-CoV-2 had caused about six million fatalities and 500 million infections, with community transmission being found to be in dozens of nations. Global effects had already been felt due to job losses, disruptions to the world’s transportation and supply networks, a decline in corporate profitability, and the stock market’s almost weekly record-breaking decline. Some people objected to “securitizing” public health by tagging yet another issue with national security. Such worries were genuine. An effective strategy was to integrate diplomacy, foreign aid, and public health readiness and was adjusted to the varied nature of the danger posed by pandemics. Herein, in this chapter, we overview the trend of pandemic outbreak throughout the globe as well as in Malaysia in terms of economic, education, social, and politic sectors. Furthermore, various significant efforts that were taken by the government with the assistance by the World Health Organization (WHO) to curb the virus transmission had also been focused. This overview of global scenario during the pandemic outbreak was anticipated to provide knowledge for early preparation measure to handle possible future pandemic as well as to avoid the government’s delay due to the slow response to the rapid transmission of virus.
