The use of banana peels for making activated carbon has been studied for various purposes, including removing heavy metals and dyes from wastewater and adsorbing harmful substances from water. A method involving microwave activation with N2 flow and different power levels was used to produce banana peel activated carbon (BPAC) for 15 min. The BPAC was analyzed using advanced techniques like Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). FTIR analysis shows presence of functional groups on BPAC's surface. SEM indicates BPAC has irregular, porous surface suitable for dye adsorption. Preparation under optimal conditions resulted in favorable properties for MB dye removal. Increasing MB dye concentrations show BPAC's efficiency in adsorption. Microwave activation enhances bio-adsorption potential of banana peels as activated carbon. Banana peels as activated carbon offer sustainable and cost-effective solution for wastewater treatment.

摘要
