This study analyzes how an education program for minority language journalism could be structured. The analytical approach is based on Deuze’s (Journalism Studies, 7(1), 2006) categorization of key debates facing journalism education programs around the globe. The categories are motivation, paradigm, mission, orientation, direction, contextualization, education, curriculum, method, and management and organization. The motivation for an education program specifically for minority language journalists is the need for professional journalists working for a linguistic minority, not only providing good journalism but also language support and empowerment, which goes beyond the traditional journalistic mission. The distinguishing features of minority language journalism education are analyzed, with comparisons made to ethnic and indigenous journalism education. As an illustration, a case study from the Swedish School of Social Science at the University of Helsinki is used.
