Tuned Mass Dampers
摘要
A Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) is a mechanical energy dissipating system which in its simplest form consists of a mass which is attached to the structure by a spring, and a dashpot (see Fig. 2.1). The utilization of Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs) has emerged as a prominent solution for controlling vibrations in buildings and structures. Vibrations induced by various factors such as wind, earthquakes, and dynamic loads can lead to discomfort for occupants, structural fatigue, and even compromise the safety and functionality of the building.
