This chapter presents the Reference Ontology of Money and Virtual Currencies (ROME), a UFO-based ontology, specified in OntoUML (Guizzardi, 2005; Guizzardi, Fonseca, Almeida, et al., 2021), that formalizes the characterization of money, currency and virtual currencies, as well as its embedded concepts and relations (Amaral, Sales, and Guizzardi, 2021d; Amaral, Sales, Guizzardi, and Porello, 2020a; Amaral, Sales, Guizzardi, Porello, and Guarino, 2020).
