Over the years, the theoretical teaching work of engineering graphics course of Northeastern University has achieved relatively results, and the practical teaching link has also made a breakthrough and improvement. But facing the higher requirements of the national cultivation goal of new engineering students, it is urgently required to strengthen the students’ innovation consciousness and innovation practical ability cultivation. This paper analyzed the current situation of the teaching mode and content of engineering graphics course, performs the reform and practice of the teaching resources construction, teaching methods and means. And the concept and countermeasures to improve the practical teaching link of the course had been discussed. By combined theoretical teaching and engineering application in the teaching process, the students’ innovative ability and engineering application ability has been improved.
