The usual notion of “I” is consonant with the image of the I, which Ludwig Wittgenstein in his Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus connects with solipsism:In the encounter with the world we habitually tend, in fact, to represent the perceiving, thinking, understanding, knowing I as a point localizable within our body, whose interiority we intend as separated from the exteriority of the world we are perceiving. As a consequence, we are oriented to associate the modality of perception actualized by the I with the perspective of a tunnel vision, which hopelessly splits the first person perspective from the second and third person perspectives, that is a postulated mere subjectivity of the perceiving consciousness from a postulated objective being. A contrastive dualism between the I and the world is thus generated, which immediately determines and configurates every field of life and knowledge.
