Transdisciplinary Dimensions of NEW HEALTH: The New Paradigm of Medicine
摘要
In times of great upheaval, as we are currently experiencing, old systems are often obsolete and the need for new approaches comes to the fore. Especially in the field of prevention and treatment of people with physical or mental diseases, we can observe stagnation and often helplessness. Symptom control is still in the foreground and too little attention is paid to the root cause of illness from a trauma-related perspective. Productivity and flat rates per case determine everyday life and lead to increasing dissatisfaction on the part of patients and medical staff. Performance and revenue continue to take precedence over compassion and humanity. The transdisciplinary New Health (NH) approach presented here aims to expand and enrich modern medicine with its trauma-aware understanding and offers an extended explanation of the term trauma. For this purpose it defines four core dimensions: the individual dimension, the social dimension, the educational dimension and the spiritual dimension where it is about moving beyond trauma and return to the Self. The individual journeys of the medical professionals through their own trauma towards more self-care, self-compassion and self-realization will lead to changing Medicine from the inside out. The social dimension shows the influence interpersonal interaction can have on well-being and health and creates vessels in which social isolation can be overcome through social interaction. Conscious education is a significant part of NH to prevent disease in the long-term. It includes trauma training (recognition, prevention, transition, resolution), emotional and mental health training and re-establishes contact with one’s own body wisdom. This leads to a different understanding of the physical imbalance called disease, where posttraumatic growth is key. Moving beyond trauma means leaving behind old patterns and stories that no longer serve us to live a life full of health, wholeness, meaning and purpose.
