The simulation of planetary flows at all the scales that have a significant impact on the climate system is unachievable with nowadays computational resources. Parametrization of the scales smaller than the simulation resolution is thus crucial to correctly resolve the ocean dynamics. In this work, a novel parametrization of the subgrid scales by means of the wavelet transform is introduced in the shallow water and primitive models within the so-called Location Uncertainty framework.

摘要

The simulation of planetary flows at all the scales that have a significant impact on the climate system is unachievable with nowadays computational resources. Parametrization of the scales smaller than the simulation resolution is thus crucial to correctly resolve the ocean dynamics. In this work, a novel parametrization of the subgrid scales by means of the wavelet transform is introduced in the shallow water and primitive models within the so-called Location Uncertainty framework.
