Wireless Interface

Antennas are used in nearly all parts of today’s daily life. Entertainment programs are received from radio stations, app updates using WIFI or 5G on smart devices, or the Bluetooth connection to our headphones. Not only data can be transferred without wires, power can be transmitted as well which is increasingly used in the entertainment industry recently, e.g., wireless charging stations for smartphones and smartwatches. The antennas used differ significantly in size and shape and even on their physical working principle depending on their application. Different possibilities for simultaneous energy and data transfer for wireless sensor applications are introduced, compared, and the important equations for the chosen approach are presented in the theoretical background. After that the iterative design process including details on manufacturing, contacting, mechanical simulations, and design calculations is presented, taking the challenging application area close to multiple conducting materials into account in both experiments and simulation.
