Fiber Metal Laminates

FMLs combine thin layers of metal sheets alternating with layers of FRPs in an adhesive bond. Depending on their field of use, they can be adjusted to the application-specific requirements. In aerospace applications, for example, they provide increased resistance to impact damage, corrosion, and metal fatigue compared to commonly used aluminum [1]. The configurations and manufacturing techniques for FML components as well as the other materials used within the frame of this work will be introduced in the following sections.
