Toxoplasma gondii is a globally prevalent pathogen of humans and most warm-blooded animals, and also a genetically tractable model system for the study of intracellular parasitism. The modern field has been characterized by consistent progress in the application of cutting-edge genetic manipulation and functional genomics. Here, we highlight the most recent advances in the field and discuss results from representative manuscripts from the constantly evolving field of Toxoplasma functional genomics.
