Globalization
摘要
Globalization, characterized by increasing interconnectivity, has reshaped local contexts across the world. While interconnectivity is not a novel phenomenon, its pace has accelerated primarily due to rapid technological advancements. The concept of globalization, however, remains contested, with debates centered on whether it leads to cultural homogenization or heterogenization and whether its impacts are mainly beneficial or detrimental. Beyond these debates, globalized interconnectivity offers possibilities for conceptual advancement by challenging categorical and essentialist perceptions of sociocultural contexts. It also opens new avenues for inclusive and collaborative scientific inquiry across borders. One promising outcome of globalization is the development of a global identity associated with greater awareness of shared humanity and responsibility. Fostering global identification can promote prosocial values such as empathy, appreciation of diversity, and commitment to social and environmental justice. Accordingly, globalized identities and citizenship may serve as vital psychological and social resources in addressing contemporary global challenges.
