Smuggling hydrocarbons is a global criminal enterprise whose presence is not limited by national borders or cultural identities. There are documented cases in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North and Latin America. Exploring some of these cases will help us distinguish between the various causes, similarities and differences that make fuel trafficking a global black market.
