Conventionally, autopsy is the gold standard for the postmortem evaluation of the deceased fetus and child, but the acceptance rate among families is low owing to religious beliefs, psychosocial stress, and fear of disfigurement of the body. As an alternative, postmortem imaging with radiography, ultrasound, CT, and/or MRI allows satisfactory evaluation of fetuses and children and is often more acceptable to the parents.
