This book attempts to lay the ground work for how modern postmortem imaging-associated investigation might be best implemented in the perinatal and pediatric setting, outlining the principles of use of each technique and where each might be best deployed for maximal diagnostic accuracy. It should serve as the starting point, rather than end point, for current service delivery, so that continuous improvements can be made to deliver the right service for the local population at each institution. In this book we have tried to provide a comprehensive review of how postmortem imaging can be used to evaluate, triage, or diagnose conditions across different fetal and childhood settings. We have outlined where obtaining tissue samples for ancillary investigations may still be required, with parental consent, and described current alternatives to traditional conventional autopsy.

摘要
