Nature activates different mechanisms to survive different environmental conditions. This chapter examines the adaptation mechanisms of plants, which are divided into morphological, concerning the shape and aesthetic appearance, physiological, concerning the metabolic processes, and behavioural, concerning the movements. The proposal of a framework that summarises the main movements under certain environmental triggers such as light, water and temperature is designed as an important tool for the future phases of biomimetic design.
