Introduction to the Section on Emerging Technologies
摘要
The rapid evolution of modern technology is transforming children’s social interactions and learning environments. Children increasingly have access to devices such as voice-assistants and virtual reality headsets, leading to concerns about how using new technologies affects their health and well-being. This section specifically examines how access to several types of emerging technologies affects children’s cognitive and social development. It emphasizes the need for researchers to better understand the consequences children's use of these technologies and discusses ethical issues, such as privacy protection, that arise as a result of their use. The chapters in this section suggest that, as access to and use of emerging technologies continues to expand, collaboration among stakeholders ranging from caregivers to policymakers will be crucial for maximizing the benefits and minimizing the risks to children’s development.
