Tourism is an important economic component in several countries. India, with its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, has a promising reputation in the tourism business. With multiple options available, tourists often face problem in selecting the most suitable hotel for boarding, as they assess the hotels on their own different preferences. To assist in this decision, the primary objective of our research is to study the criteria based on which customers choose the luxury hotels in India. The second objective is to assess and select the luxury hotel based on the criteria identified in the first step. To attain these objectives, Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods are utilized wherein Best Worst Method (BWM) is used to rank the criteria and VIKOR method is used to select the best luxury hotel. The results of this research can be used to drive future research on the performance assessment of hotels in general and can also serve as a guide for tourists looking to book the best hotel with their specific requirements.
