Today virtual reality is booming. More and more products are being developed that integrate artificial intelligence into our lives. This is one of the main themes of the film The Matrix, the subject of the unstoppable advance of the virtual, its manifestation and consequences. In this way, in the present investigation, an analysis of the film and the main interpretive keys is carried out. In addition, the virtual world and the perceived or felt world are analyzed from the point of view of the different characters in the film. The theories of reality defended are important to establish connections between the dialogues of the characters and the philosophy.  The human being is something more than an accumulation of feelings or experiences, precisely the anthropological truth residing in the balance of what we are, intelligence and affectivity. The truth needs to be detected and analyzed by human beings, which goes beyond the affective barrier, although it includes it. Distinguishing the virtual from the real does not lie in suppressing or eliminating technological progress. Hermeneutics consists of understanding the virtual as something that is part of existence, enriching it, but in no case does it replace it.
