The Republic of Yemen is home for seven amphibian species belonging to three anuran families: five bufonids (Duttaphrynus dhufarensis, “Bufo” scorteccii, Sclerophrys arabica, S. hadramautina, S. tihamica), one dircroglossid (Euphlyctis ehrenbergi), and one hylid (Hyla felixarabica). All seven species are presented with their synonymies, with taxonomic and nomenclatural remarks, distributional data, natural history notes and conservation statuses. For three species field-generated sonagrams are provided, a laboratory-recorded one for a fourth species. An eighth species of a fourth family, the ranid Pelophlayx ridibundus, is mentioned for Yemen, but not yet documented. The species-composition contains Oriental, Afrotropical and Palearctic faunal elements, underlining Yemen as a biogeographical transitional zone.
