Revolutionizing Waste Management: AI-Driven Smart Dustbins for Environmental Pollution Mitigation
摘要
The challenge of waste management is widely acknowledged in India, presenting a pressing issue. The key lies in effectively amalgamating technology with household-level waste separation systems to counteract waste buildup in landfills and encourage recycling initiatives. The inherent value within the waste, whether as energy or materials, is intricately linked to accurate segregation. Hence, our approach entails harnessing the potential of machine learning algorithms to analyze waste imagery and categorize it into three distinct classes: biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and hazardous. For practical implementation, we are integrating a microcontroller with a stepper motor positioned beneath the waste bin. This arrangement facilitates controlled bin rotation, allowing waste to be placed based on its designated category. To complement this mechanism, a servo motor located above the bin delicately guides waste into the appropriate compartment. The merits of segregating waste encompass numerous advantages, including decreased waste management expenses, heightened recycling rates, potential revenue streams, and a mitigated impact on landfills.
