The Opta PLC may be used in industrial, Internet of Things (IoT), and hybrid applications. We find sensors and actuators at a variety of common voltages (e.g. 5 VDC). In this chapter we explore how to connect these input sensors and output actuators to an Opta PLC. We begin with a review of the Opta input and output characteristics. We then explore a wide variety of digital and analog input sensors and output actuators. We employ an operational amplifier–based transducer interface design process to interface input sensors to the Opta PLC.
