Energy management constitutes a fundamental element supporting the sustainable development of institutional structures. This process is primarily developed based on a study. This study addresses the framework and contribution of the walk-through audit study, which supports the decision-making processes of energy management for industrial facilities with the objective of increasing energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. The paper presents a case study of a ‘walking audit’ methodology, which outlines the framework for assessments and evaluations. The results of the study indicate that a comprehensive engine inventory covering approximately 86% of the enterprise’s energy consumption reveals a significant potential for energy efficiency improvements, with a potential range of 50–90%. Nevertheless, an energy efficiency assessment that concentrated solely on the engine demonstrated a potential of 3.08% in terms of the engine label efficiency. In contrast, the audit identified 14 problem areas and identified 6 basic energy-saving opportunities that should be prioritised. Furthermore, the study identified actionable steps for each investment opportunity, based on three key assessment areas related to energy management strategies. It is notable that the walk-through audit has been demonstrated to be a crucial initial step in influencing energy management decision-making, budget planning, and the selection of potential energy efficiency investments. This process is supported by recommendations focused on individual energy consumers, including detailed feasibility analyses for potential energy efficiency projects.
