Recent studies on accidental awareness during general anesthesia (AAGA) have highlighted the importance of measuring the depth of anesthesia (DOA) and sedation in children. In order to balance sedation with appropriate (non) awareness, it is necessary to carefully consider the sedation plan. Neuromonitors, designed to measure the depth of anesthesia, have been available for the past few decades, but it is only now that their use has become increasingly popular for sedation. This chapter aims to critically evaluate the current literature and provide an understanding of the neuromonitors available and their limitations. We will also highlight exciting new scientific research in the field.

摘要
