In dedicated literature the gift system is well known from its milestone contributor Marcel Mauss. However, dominant utilitarianism in social sciences has relegated the gift to exotic areas of ethnographic domain, thus preventing its re-contextualization in modern Western societies. The authors, after acknowledging classic works and highlighting their conclusions, strive to renew the research domain by directing reflection on possible contemporary settings, focusing in particular on emergency contexts of migration.

摘要

In dedicated literature the gift system is well known from its milestone contributor Marcel Mauss.
