Rural Entrepreneurship: Macro Environmental Factor Impact on the Success of Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSME’s)

The aim of the research study is to determine the influence of macro environmental analysis on the performance of rural Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with reference to manufacturing enterprises in Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. To analyse the performance, a sample of 375 Micro, Small and Medium manufacturing enterprises located in rural blocks of Coimbatore District are taken for the study using census method and stratified random sampling technique. The structured interview schedule has conducted to collect the primary data from business owners. Percentage analysis, Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation), ANOVA, Post-hoc analysis, correlation and regression analysis have applied to analyse the primary data. The findings have shown that, the rural manufacturing enterprises in Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu have significantly influenced by Macro environmental factors negatively. The findings of the study will be definitely useful to the Government of India to improve the investment climate, employment generation, profitability, and export share of these enterprises. Moreover, the study will also assist them in the formulation of liberalized policies which will bring an appropriate environment for the growth and expansion of rural Micro, Small and Medium manufacturing enterprises thus, contributing to “Make in India”, “Start-up” and “Stand up” programme.
