Microbatteries

Inink-jet printed this Chapter, the state-of-the-art of the micro-solid-state lithium batteries (µSSLBs)Micro-solid state lithium batteries (µSSLBs) is presented. First, the early developments of µSSLBs are summarized providing the characteristics of the best lithium microbatteries fabricated so far. The three classes of active materials constituting the electrochemical microdevices are considered: (i) thin filmAnodesthin films electrolytes, (ii) positive electrodes materials (cathodes), and (iii) negative electrode materials (anodes). For each material, the growth conditions and electrochemical properties are presented. 2D microbatteries2D providing the characteristics of the bestplanar planar µSSLBsMicro-solid state lithium batteries (µSSLBs) are presented and the technology of 3D microbatteries3D is examined. Finally, a comparison of the growth conditions is given that allow thehistory best electrochemical performance of each electrochemically active component of µSSLBsMicro-solid state lithium batteries (µSSLBs).
