Hysterectomy is one of the most common gynecologic procedures performed worldwide. While many hysterectomies proceed without difficulty, serious complications can arise. Prompt identification and management of complications when they occur can greatly reduce associated morbidity and mortality. This chapter reviews the major complications of hysterectomy including relevant anatomy, and tips and tricks in prevention, recognition, and management strategies.
