During the interwar period, some East and Central European women tried to deal with the political, economic, and social issues that their countries faced through several initiatives. One important and noticeable endeavor was the Petite Entente des Femmes. This organization aimed to find collective solutions to general concerns. Their ideas were indeed (almost) never put into practice because they did not have enough power and influence inside their own countries. However, their theoretical approaches warrant detailed attention as they underscored the aspiration for integration that the female elites of these regions shared. Furthermore, some of their proposals had clear Europeanism tendencies. That is especially true regarding the integration of the countries they represented, but sometimes also regarding Europe as a whole. Some of their ideas on this matter were remarkably progressive for their time.
