re:Sounding Worlds: Configuring Space and Mixing Embodiments in Interactive Digital Audio Narratives
摘要
The chapter describes Holloway-Attaway and Fawcus’ work, an interactive digital audio-based narrative for/within mixed reality environments that draws inspiration from the ongoing configuring milieus for affective, embodied discovery and material media experiences as Xenakis and Parikka define it. They are based on principles for bringing bodies together in digital/physical spaces composed to displace, deconstruct and destabilise normal subjective states and identity formations based on deterministic aims for acts as meaning-making. Their work PATTER(N)INGS governs how the listener interacts with the sound material and how the sounds interact and relate to each other in a ludic fashion, almost like a game. The aim of the audio experience is to foreground the many embodied matters of trans-mission—both the patters (contents, resonances) and the patterns (repetitions, routines). Here, one must make and endure to affectively document and reveal the new spaces and affiliations where we literally mediate our different selves and beings in novel ways.
