End-of-Life Nursing for Children and Families in ICU
摘要
Families are fundamental partners in the care of critically ill or injured infants, children, and young people in the PICU. Family members, specifically parents and siblings, have specific experiences and care needs whilst their child is critically ill and beyond. This chapter begins by briefly outlining the general experiences and care needs of families (parents and siblings) whilst having a child in the PICU. The chapter then focuses specifically on the care needs of families when their child is at end of life and after they have died. Practical approaches that can be used by PICU professionals to support families during these times are outlined.
