Transfusion Medicine in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
摘要
Transfusions are a frequent intervention in pediatric intensive care units. Although they might benefit some patients, the current evidence suggests they are frequently associated with worse clinical outcomes. In this chapter, we will describe the physiological background, the current evidence, and the knowledge gaps for red blood cell, plasma, and platelet transfusions. We will also address the various available blood products and the main transfusion reactions and complications.
