Complications: Prevention and Management
摘要
Video capsule endoscopy (VCE) is a non-invasive and very safe procedure, being the overall VCE complication rate around 1–2%. The main VCE-related complications, such as aspiration in the airways and device retention, in general do not require urgent interventions and are usually managed conservatively. However, the knowledge of these complications allows a careful patient selection and a risk minimization. In addition, possible VCE complications should be carefully explained to the patient during procedure counseling, to obtain a fully informed consent.
