Capsule endoscopy (CE) represents an extraordinary non-invasive technical innovation in diagnostic gastrointestinal endoscopy, which can be used even in all pediatric age groups. Indication for CE varies between age groups with inflammatory bowel disease and bleeding being the most frequent indication. The size of the capsule might be a limitation especially in younger children, as they are unable to swallow the capsule, which might require endoscopic placement. Complications such as capsule retention are extremely rare, estimated between 1.2 and 2.6%, similar to the adult population.
