Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis is a rare disease characterized by patchy or diffuse eosinophilic infiltration of gastrointestinal tissue, with an unknown etiology. Its prevalence is increasing in Western countries, but it still remains a challenging diagnosis for clinicians. Over the past decade, there has been a remarkable increase in the incidence of primary eosinophilic digestive diseases, as well as a vigorous increase in data linking the development of these illnesses to atopy. Corticosteroid therapy and food exclusion are the most common treatment of eosinophilic gastroenteritis flares.
