The process of developing a welding procedure and then qualifying it can be both complicated and time consuming. Depending on the complexity of the welding procedure and required qualification testing, the process may be as simple as modifying an existing welding procedure or simply using a Standard or Pre-Qualified welding procedure to as complex as developing a welding procedure from scratch. In this chapter, details for each step of this process are discussed.
