Towards the Consolidation of Migration Film Festivals’ Social Functions
摘要
This chapter explores the diverse social roles of migration film festivals (MFFs) and their potential to foster social unity and change. It examines MFF missions, underlining the importance of programming that goes beyond entertainment to address urgent migration concerns. The chapter also delves into migrant involvement in the festival organisation as a pivotal, unresolved aspect. Through narrative exploration, it probes how MFFs can challenge prevailing viewpoints on migration. The chapter addresses MFF challenges and innovative solutions, stressing the need to navigate the intricate representation of migration experiences and dialogue promotion. It introduces a ‘Decalogue of Good Practice’ for ethical and inclusive programming. By foregrounding diverse migration stories, this chapter investigates how MFFs bolster empathy, dialogue, and active engagement to amplify migrant voices and foster transformation through community involvement, workshops, and interactive platforms.
