This article presents a case study on integrating fashion and sustainability education, focusing on transformative learning for teaching circular fashion and engaging students of the Fashion Design Department Universitas Ciputra Surabaya in community service within the Surabaya zero waste community under the supervision of the Surabaya Government’s Environmental Office. The research aims to address the importance of sustainable fashion education and community engagement, as well as to explore the implementation of circular fashion concepts beyond the classroom setting and its impact on students and the wider community. Through action research approach, data were collected through observation with direct involvement and document analysis such as the lesson plan, collaborative workshop materials, and student reflections. The findings demonstrate the application of transformative learning by integrating community-led approach to introduce circular fashion, resulting in increased awareness and knowledge among students regarding circular fashion. Moreover, student engagement in community service fostered positive connections between students and the zero-waste community, empowering them to become change agents in promoting sustainable fashion practices. The results underscore the potential of fashion education as a catalyst for sustainable behavior change and community empowerment, thereby contributing to the wider discourse on sustainability education through a concept of transformation through learning.
